The International Organization for Standardization was established in 1947 to promote the development of standardization and related activities in the world with a view to facilitate the international exchange of goods and services, and to develop cooperation in the spheres of intellectual, scientific, technological and economic activity. The existence of non-harmonized standards for similar technologies in different countries can contribute to barriers of trade. Export minded industries have long sensed the need to agree on world standards to help the international trading process. This was the origin of ISO. ISO 9000 specifically pertains to initial conformance and rigid adherence to a uniform set of international standards that were developed for a companyss overall Quality Management System. The H.
